Platformer prompts

Platformer2DBeginner

Gravity Flip Lab

Make a 2D side-scrolling platformer set inside a clean white science lab. The player is a small robot that walks with left/right arrows (or on-screen buttons on mobile) and presses Space or tap to flip gravity, sticking to the ceiling or floor. Each level is one screen with spikes, moving platforms and a glowing exit door. Add 8 short levels that get harder, a timer, and a star rating based on how fast you finish. Bright flat-color art, soft electronic music.

Platformer2DIntermediate

Lantern Climb

Create a vertical 2D platformer where a tiny lantern spirit climbs a dark tower. The lantern's light slowly fades; touching floating embers refills it, and if it reaches zero the run ends. Use jump and double jump only. Platforms crumble 1 second after you land on them. Score = height reached. Add a best-height marker on the wall from your previous run. Warm orange-on-navy pixel art and a calm piano loop.

Platformer3DIntermediate

Paper Craft Kingdom

Build a short 3D platformer where everything looks like folded paper and cardboard. The hero is a paper knight who can jump and do a short glide. The goal is to collect 5 paper crowns hidden in a small open level with a windmill, a bridge and a castle. Wind gusts push the player while gliding. Show a crown counter and a finish screen with the total time. Keep the camera behind the player and easy to control.

Platformer2DBeginner

One-Button Bounce

Make a one-button platformer for phones. A rubber ball bounces automatically; holding the screen makes the next bounce higher, releasing makes it lower. Avoid saw blades and land on colored pads to score. Speed increases every 20 seconds. Show score, best score and a big 'Tap to retry' button. Minimal neon shapes on a black background.

Puzzle prompts

Puzzle2DBeginner

Pipe Garden

Create a relaxing 2D pipe-rotation puzzle. The board is a 5x5 grid of garden pipe tiles; tap a tile to rotate it 90 degrees. Connect the water tap to every flower pot to make the flowers bloom. Include 12 handmade levels that grow to a 7x7 grid, a move counter, an undo button and a 3-star rating based on moves. Soft watercolor style and gentle bird sounds.

Puzzle2DIntermediate

Shadow Match

Make a puzzle game where the player rotates and slides wooden blocks under a lamp so their combined shadow on the wall matches a target silhouette (a cat, a house, a rocket). Drag to move, tap to rotate. Show a percentage match meter; at 95% the level is solved. 10 levels, cozy workshop art, hint button that reveals one block position.

Puzzle2DBeginner

Color Sort Lab

Build a liquid color-sorting puzzle with test tubes. Tap a tube to pick up the top color and tap another tube to pour it, only onto the same color or an empty tube. Win when every tube holds one color. Generate levels with 3 to 8 colors, add an undo button (3 per level) and a level counter. Clean, bright lab visuals and satisfying pour sounds.

Puzzle2DIntermediate

Laser Mirror Maze

Create a top-down puzzle where a laser beam must reach a crystal. Players place and rotate a limited number of mirrors on a grid; walls block the beam and colored filters change its color, and some crystals only accept one color. Show the beam path live while editing. 15 levels with increasing mirror limits, sci-fi style with glowing lines.

Puzzle2DBeginner

Sliding Ice Escape

Make a grid puzzle on an ice rink. A penguin slides in the chosen direction until it hits a rock or wall. Reach the fish in the fewest moves. Swipe or arrow keys to move. Include 10 levels, a 'par' move count per level, and a reset button. Cute flat cartoon style.

Racing prompts

Racing3DBeginner

Desert Highway Drift

Make a 3D arcade racing game on a long desert highway at sunset. The car steers left/right and drifts with a button; drifting fills a boost bar. Race 3 laps against 5 AI cars, avoid tumbleweeds and road cones, and collect fuel cans that unlock new paint colors. Show position, lap timer and a minimap. Warm low-poly style and a driving rock soundtrack.

Racing3DBeginner

Shopping Cart Grand Prix

Create a silly 3D kart race inside a giant supermarket at night. Players drive shopping carts through aisles, frozen food sections and a parking lot. Pick up items like bananas (drop behind you) and soda cans (speed burst). 4 opponents, 3 laps, and a podium screen at the end. Colorful cartoon look.

Racing2DIntermediate

Top-Down Rally Time Trial

Build a 2D top-down rally game. The car has realistic-feeling drift on gravel, mud slows you down and water splashes the screen. Each track is a time trial with 3 checkpoints and a ghost car of your best lap. Include 4 tracks (forest, desert, snow, city), and a leaderboard for each track. Clean overhead art style.

Racing3DIntermediate

Hover Bike Canyon

Make a fast 3D hover-bike racer through a red rock canyon. Steering is tilt-based, and the bike can briefly jump over gaps. Glowing rings along the track give speed boosts; missing too many slows you down. Race against the clock with 3 difficulty levels. Futuristic style with motion blur and a synthwave soundtrack.

Endless Runner prompts

Endless Runner3DBeginner

Night Market Dash

Create a 3-lane endless runner through a busy night market. Swipe or use arrows to switch lanes, jump over crates and slide under hanging lanterns. Collect dumplings for points; every 500 points the music gets faster and the market gets more crowded. Show distance, score and best score. Warm lights, food stall details, cheerful music.

Endless Runner2DBeginner

Sky Whale Glide

Make a side-scrolling endless flyer where a small whale glides through the clouds. Tap to flap upward, release to drift down. Avoid storm clouds and hot air balloons, collect star fish for points. Every 30 seconds the time of day changes from morning to sunset to night. Pastel art and dreamy ambient music.

Endless Runner3DIntermediate

Subway Skater Escape

Build an endless runner where a skateboarder rides on top of moving subway cars. Jump between cars, grind on rails for bonus points and duck under bridges. Power-ups: magnet for coins, shield for one crash. Add daily missions (for example 'grind 3 rails in one run') shown on the start screen. Street-art graphics.

Endless Runner2DBeginner

Lava Floor Dash

Make an endless runner where the floor of a house is lava. The player auto-runs and jumps between couches, tables and bookshelves. Furniture pieces are randomly generated, and the lava slowly rises if you are too slow. Score is distance in meters. Bright cartoon style with a playful soundtrack.

Trivia & Quiz prompts

Trivia & Quiz2DBeginner

Speed Geography Quiz

Create a fast geography trivia game. Each round shows a country outline and 4 answer buttons; answer before a 7-second timer runs out. Correct answers in a row build a streak multiplier. 15 questions per round, with a results screen that lists the questions you missed. Clean modern UI with a world map background.

Trivia & Quiz2DBeginner

True or False Gauntlet

Make a true-or-false quiz about science facts. Statements slide in from the right; swipe right for true and left for false (or press arrow keys). The speed increases every 5 answers, and 3 mistakes end the run. Show the correct explanation in one short sentence after each mistake. Bold colors, punchy sound effects.

Trivia & Quiz2DBeginner

Fairy Tale Emoji Riddles

Build a riddle game where a classic fairy tale or myth (public-domain stories like Cinderella, Icarus or The Three Little Pigs) is described with 3 to 5 emojis, and the player picks the answer from 4 options. Hints cost points. 20 riddles, a score summary and a share-your-score screen.

Trivia & Quiz2DIntermediate

History Timeline Sorter

Create a quiz where players drag 5 historical event cards into the correct chronological order on a timeline. Points depend on how many are in the right place. After each round, show the correct order with years. 10 rounds that cover different eras. Parchment-style design.

Tower Defense prompts

Tower Defense2DBeginner

Garden Gnome Defense

Make a 2D tower defense game where garden gnomes defend a vegetable patch from waves of snails, moles and crows. Place gnome towers along a winding dirt path: water gnome (slows), slingshot gnome (single target), sprinkler gnome (area damage). Earn seeds from defeated pests to build and upgrade. 10 waves, a boss mole at the end, and a speed-up button.

Tower Defense3DIntermediate

Neon Grid Defense

Build a 3D tower defense on a glowing neon grid. Enemies are geometric shapes that split into smaller shapes when destroyed. Towers: laser, pulse and freeze. Players can build walls to change the enemy path (they cannot fully block it). 15 waves with a preview of the next wave. Synthwave visuals and music.

Tower Defense2DIntermediate

Castle Kitchen Siege

Create a tower defense where a castle kitchen is attacked by waves of hungry raccoons. The towers are kitchen tools: frying pan (knockback), pepper grinder (area damage), and a cheese trap (stops one enemy). Each wave gives coins, and between waves you can upgrade or sell towers. Add 3 difficulty settings and a hand-drawn medieval cartoon style.

Tower Defense2DAdvanced

Asteroid Outpost

Make a space tower defense around a mining outpost on an asteroid that slowly rotates, so the enemy approach angles change over time. Towers draw from a shared energy pool that refills between waves. Include 3 tower types, 12 waves, and a final mothership boss. Dark space art with bright projectile effects.

Arcade & Shooter prompts

Arcade & Shooter2DBeginner

Paper Plane Squadron

Create a vertical scrolling shooter that looks like doodles in a school notebook. The player is a paper plane that auto-fires pencil dots. Enemies are scribbled bugs, eraser tanks and ink blots that move in patterns. Collect paper clips to upgrade the weapon (triple shot, bouncing shot). 3 pages (stages) with a boss on each page. Hand-drawn ballpoint style and playful music.

Arcade & Shooter2DIntermediate

Asteroid Pinball

Make a space-themed pinball table with two flippers, three pop bumpers, rollover lanes and a ramp. Lighting all rollover lanes starts multiball. Show a score, ball count (3 balls) and a high score table. Use left/right arrow keys or tap the left/right side of the screen for the flippers. Neon colors and arcade sound effects.

Arcade & Shooter2DBeginner

Chicken Roundup

Build a 90-second arcade chase game on a farm. The player is a farmer who must herd 6 escaped chickens back into the coop by running behind them; chickens flee away from the player and around haystacks. Each chicken returned adds 5 seconds. Show a timer, a chicken counter and a star rating. Bright, friendly cartoon art.

Arcade & Shooter2DBeginner

Meteor Juggle

Create a one-screen arcade game where the player moves a small paddle-planet left and right to bounce falling meteors back into space. Missing a meteor cracks the planet; 3 cracks ends the game. Golden meteors are worth double. Increase meteor count over time. Simple space art and satisfying bounce sounds.

Word & Education prompts

Word & Education2DBeginner

Translation Balloons

Make a language-learning game for French. An English word appears at the bottom, and balloons carrying French words float upward; pop the balloon with the correct translation before it leaves the screen. Wrong pops and missed balloons cost a heart (3 hearts). Start with 20 common words and add harder ones as the player improves. Show accuracy % and a list of words to review at the end.

Word & Education2DBeginner

Times Table Tower

Create a math game for practicing multiplication. Each correct answer stacks a block on a tower; a wrong answer makes the tower wobble, and 3 wobbles topple it. Players choose which times tables to practice (2 to 12). Show the height reached and the best tower. Friendly colorful blocks and encouraging sound effects.

Word & Education3DIntermediate

Letter Orbit

Build a 3D word game where letter tiles orbit slowly around a small planet. Tap letters in order to form words of 3+ letters; valid words make the tiles fly into a 'word rocket' that fills up. Longer words score more. 2-minute rounds, a list of found words and a 'best word' highlight. Clean space style.

Word & Education3DBeginner

Planet Facts Explorer

Make a short 3D exploration game where the player flies a small spaceship between the 8 planets. Landing near each planet opens one fun fact and a quick 2-option question. Answering all 8 unlocks a badge. Simple controls (arrows or on-screen joystick) and a beautiful starfield.

Sports prompts

Sports3DBeginner

Penalty Shootout Hero

Create a hypercasual penalty shootout. Swipe to shoot (direction and curve come from the swipe), then tap to dive as the goalkeeper. 5 shots each against an AI team; sudden death if tied. Add 3 difficulty levels and a trophy screen. Bright stadium visuals and crowd sounds.

Sports3DIntermediate

Downhill Sled Delivery

Make a 3D sledding game where the player delivers gifts to cabins down a snowy mountain. Steer left/right, lean back to slow down, and throw gifts toward chimneys with a button. Hitting trees knocks gifts off the sled. Score = gifts delivered x time bonus. 3 slopes with increasing steepness. Crisp winter style and jingly music.

Sports3DBeginner

Mini Golf Planets

Build a mini golf game on small floating planets with their own gravity. Drag back to aim and set power, release to putt. Each of 9 holes has a par value. Add a scorecard and a replay of your best shot. Cute low-poly space style.

Sports2DBeginner

Basketball Trick Shots

Create a 2D basketball trick-shot game. Drag and release to throw the ball; it bounces off walls, trampolines and moving platforms before reaching the hoop. 20 levels with 3 stars each based on the number of throws. Clean flat art and satisfying swish sound.

Multiplayer & Party prompts

Multiplayer & Party2DIntermediate

Crumbling Floor Duel

Make a turn-based 2-player game on a 7x7 floor of stone tiles above a pit. On each turn a player moves their character one step (including diagonally) and then removes any empty tile, which falls into the pit. A player who cannot move on their turn loses. Show whose turn it is clearly, highlight legal moves, and add a 'rematch' button. Simple board-game style.

Multiplayer & Party3DIntermediate

Bumper Boats Arena

Create a real-time multiplayer arena where up to 4 players drive bumper boats on a small round lake. Bump others out of the arena to score; the arena slowly shrinks. Power-ups: water cannon and speed boost. 2-minute rounds and a scoreboard. Bright summer colors.

Multiplayer & Party2DIntermediate

Draw & Guess Sprint

Build a party game where one player draws a random word in 45 seconds and other players type guesses. Faster correct guesses earn more points, and the drawer earns points for each correct guess. Rotate the drawer every round, 6 rounds total. Simple sketchpad style.

Multiplayer & Party2DBeginner

Reaction Showdown

Make a fast reaction game for 2 players on one device or online. The screen shows a countdown, then a random delay, then 'GO!'. First to tap wins the round; tapping early is a foul. Best of 7. Add funny western-duel music and sound effects.

Cozy & Casual prompts

Cozy & Casual2DBeginner

Bubble Tea Rush

Create a cozy catch game in a bubble tea shop. The player slides a cup left and right to catch falling tapioca pearls, fruit jelly and ice cubes for the order shown at the top, while avoiding chili peppers. Completing an order gives bonus points and a new order. Retro pixel art and lo-fi music.

Cozy & Casual3DIntermediate

Tiny Island Builder

Build a relaxing island builder. Players place houses, trees, piers and gardens on a small island grid; adjacent combinations give points (for example trees next to houses = +2). The island grows after reaching score goals. No timer, gentle music and a soft pastel style.

Cozy & Casual2DBeginner

Puppy Park Dash

Make a cute runner where a puppy chases a frisbee through a city park. Tap to jump over benches and puddles, swipe to switch lanes, and collect bones for points. Tip: upload a photo of your own dog so the main character is styled after your pet. Cozy hand-drawn style.

Cozy & Casual2DBeginner

Lost Sock Hunt

Create a hidden-object game in a messy bedroom. Find 10 mismatched socks within 2 minutes; tapping the wrong place costs 3 seconds. 5 rooms with increasing clutter. Zoom with pinch on mobile. Warm cartoon illustration style.

Horror & Adventure prompts

Horror & Adventure3DIntermediate

Lighthouse at Midnight

Make a short first-person exploration game in an abandoned lighthouse. The player has a flashlight with limited battery and must find 3 fuses to restart the light at the top. Strange sounds play when the battery is low. No combat, just atmosphere and a simple ending. Foggy, moody visuals.

Horror & Adventure2DBeginner

Pumpkin Patch Escape

Create a Halloween stealth game in a moonlit pumpkin patch. The player is a small candle character who must reach the exit while avoiding scarecrows whose vision cones sweep the field. Hiding behind pumpkins breaks line of sight. 6 levels and a candy collectible in each. Spooky but friendly art.

Horror & Adventure3DAdvanced

Crystal Cave Lantern

Build a third-person adventure in a frozen crystal cave. The player's lantern keeps ice wraiths away but slowly runs out of oil; refill it at glowing oil pools. Solve 3 light-reflection puzzles with crystals to open the exit. Include crouch-to-sneak and a simple push ability (no gore). Cold blue visuals with warm lantern light.

Horror & Adventure2DIntermediate

Firefly Jar Dungeon

Make a top-down dungeon crawler where the hero collects escaped fireflies into a glass jar to light up the dungeon. Each room has slimes and bats; every firefly caught makes the screen brighter. Rooms are randomly arranged each run. Hearts for health, a simple staff attack and a final boss moth. Cute pixel art.

10 follow-up prompts to fix and polish your game

Playground's Help Center recommends “clear, focused changes rather than combining many complex requests into a single large prompt.” [1] These one-change prompts follow that advice.

Fix controls on phones

Add large on-screen buttons for mobile: a left/right pad in the bottom-left corner and a jump button in the bottom-right. Make sure nothing important is covered by the buttons.

Make it easier at the start

Make the first 30 seconds much easier: fewer obstacles and slower speed. Then increase difficulty smoothly every 20 seconds.

Add a tutorial

Add a 3-step tutorial overlay at the start that shows the controls with simple icons and can be skipped.

Better game feel

Add juice: screen shake on hits, particle bursts when collecting items, and a short slow-motion effect when the player loses.

Clear win and lose screens

Add a clear Game Over screen with the final score, best score, and big Retry and Menu buttons.

Change the theme only

Keep all mechanics exactly the same, but change the theme to an underwater world with coral, fish and bubbles.

Balance the scoring

Rebalance scoring so collecting items is worth less than surviving: 1 point per second survived, 5 points per item.

Add a pause button

Add a pause button in the top-right that freezes the game and shows Resume, Restart and Sound On/Off.

Make one change at a time

Only change the jump: make it 20% higher and slightly floatier. Do not change anything else.

Add a leaderboard-friendly score

Make sure the game ends with a single numeric final score so it can be ranked on a leaderboard.

Tips for better results

  • Start small. One core mechanic and one level type. Big “make an MMO” prompts tend to come out rough; one creator said so after trying it.
  • Name the controls for both desktop and phone. Games are played on both; the Help Center reminds creators to think about how controls scale on small screens. [1]
  • Say how the game ends and give it a single numeric score if you want a leaderboard (leaderboards are for listed single-player games). [1]
  • Use reference images (PNG/JPG) to steer the look; they're restyled, not pasted in. [1]
  • Avoid other companies' characters and brand names; published games go through a safety review against Playground's Community Guidelines. [1]
